Take 100% Responsibility For Your Life
Jim Rohn stated “You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself.”
If you want to be successful, you have to take 100% responsibility for everything that you understand, learn, and implement in your life. This includes the level of your achievements, the results you produce, the quality of your relationships, the state of your health and physical fitness, your income, your debts, your feelings—everything! This is not going to be easy but anything that you really want in life, you must work hard in order to achieve it.
When thing does not happen in life the way you want them to, you must stop blaming others and take full responsibility for the outcome. We must take a hard look at ourselves to determine what we are doing incorrectly and make a conscious effort to correct it.
George Washington Carver stated that “Ninety-nine percent of all failures come from people who have a habit of making excuses.” In order to have everything you ever wanted in life, you must take 100% responsibility for the end results. NO EXCUSES! Everything that happens in the past, leave it there. This is a new day, a new start, and a new beginning and you need to make it count by moving forward, learn from your past mistakes and start over from this point.
To help you to get from point A to point Z, Jack Canfield provided this formula to help you get to where you want to be:
E + R = O
(Event + Response = Outcome)
This means that for everything you experience in life, no matter what it is, is the result of the way you responded to something that took place at an event or as the result of events that has happened in your life.
When these events happen you have two choices:
1. You can blame the event (E) for your lack of results (O).
When this outcome occurs, we have defeatists and destructive attitude that limits our outcome. You must take a hard look at yourselves and learn from feedback that is given. You should be doing the following:
a. Educating yourself through reading and learning from others,
b. Acquire new skills and knowledge from like-minded people in your life, and
c. Learn how to manage your finances.
When you take a look at events that occur, are you making excuses because you do not or have not yet acquired the goals and dreams you have set?
Review the events of your life and make the necessary changes, this is called taking 100% responsibility for your LIFE.
2. You can instead simply change your responses (R) to the events (E)—the way things are—until you get the outcomes (O) you want.
The way to get your desired outcome, you must change how you think about things, how you communicate to others, and finally how you see yourself.
The question you are probably asking yourself is, How Do I Do This? You must take charge of your thoughts, your images, your dreams and daydreams, and your behavior. Everything you think, say, and do needs to become purposeful and aligned with your purpose, your values, and your goals.
It is amazing how your attitude and behavior can create a completely different experience.
When you are thinking negative thoughts or thinking positive thoughts, leaving the house prepared or leaving the house unprepared that made the difference in what type of results your E + R = O will be.
You only have control over three things in your life—the thoughts you think, the images you visualize, and the actions you take (how you reacted to the event).
When I was growing up, my parents would say, If you want something different, you are going to have to do something different! Do not keep doing the same old thing, getting the same old results but yet you are expecting a different outcome. A different outcome is NOT going to come until you change your E + R = O.
Wayne Dyer, Coauthor of “How to Get What You Really, Really, Really, Really Want, stated, “All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you.”
If you want to be Successful in life you must stop blaming others for you not achieving your dreams and goals. You must be the one to change your mindset, you are the one that must take massive action, and you are the one that must make the tough choices to get you what you want and desire to be. In the end, you thought the thoughts, you created the feelings, you made the tough choices, you said the words, and that’s why you are where you are today.
Now let’s talk about complaining for a moment. You must have a reference point to know that there is something bigger and better than what you currently have and you want to go and get it. It could be more money, a bigger house, a more fulfilling job, more fun, more traveling or a more loving spouse, etc. If you really and truly want to go from where you currently are to where you see yourself, you must take risks. In order to achieve this STOP complaining, STOP time with complainers, and GET ON with creating the life you are visualizing for yourself.
Life is much easier and simpler when you begin to respond quickly and decisively to signals and events as they occur. This is when you will see improved outcomes both internally and externally. When you realize that every action is under your control, that is when you will produce more of what you want and desire to create the good life you want.
As you start to achieve and see your desired outcome, you must pay very close attention to the results you are producing. If you are not getting what you want you need to ask yourself these questions,
1. Does the systems I have in place work?
2. Are you getting what you want? From the results you were getting, has your net worth increase?
3. Are you healthy, fit, and pain-free?
4. Are you getting better in all areas of your life?
If not, then you need to make the change to make something happen, and only you can make it happen. You also must be brutally honest with yourself. When this occurs, you are “Taking 100% Responsibility For Your Life.”
